City of Springtown Water System Capacity – July 5, 2024

The City of Springtown has received multiple inquiries from some of our residents regarding whether or not the City has enacted water restrictions. At this time, the City of Springtown HAS NOT activated any stage of its drought contingency plan or other water restrictions.

We are aware that a neighboring water utility has implemented emergency restrictions, but those restrictions do not apply to City of Springtown customers. These restrictions have been posted to social media by some who do not reference in the post which water provider has issued the restrictions, but it is not the City of Springtown’s water system.

The City of Springtown’s water treatment and distribution system is a wholly separate system and its source is a separate reservoir from our neighboring utility provider. The only entity that can request the City enact water restrictions is the Tarrant Regional Water District, and no such request has been made at this time, nor does the City have a need to independently enact water restrictions. Our water system has the capacity to treat and distribute 1,000,000 gallons of water per day and our current demand is averaging 40 percent of that, meaning the City has plenty of capacity and does not anticipate the need for water restrictions unless it is requested by our raw water provider, TRWD. Any rumor that the City does not have water capacity due to the recent growth is quite simply false.

It is important that residents remain aware of who their water provider is and follow any restrictions/instructions issued by their provider. For City of Springtown customers, notice of any water restrictions will be issued through Connect CTY (our reverse 911 auto-dialer), on our social media pages, and on our website. If you are not a City of Springtown water customer, please contact your water provider for specific information about restrictions.

Though the City of Springtown has not enacted water restrictions, we encourage our residents to always be cognizant of their water use and use water responsibly.
