Municipal Court
The Springtown Municipal Court is committed to providing fair, impartial, and efficient administration of justice while serving the citizens of Springtown with professionalism and respect. The Court processes Class C misdemeanor offenses occurring within the city limits and works to ensure that all matters are handled in accordance with applicable state laws, local ordinances, and judicial procedures.
The Municipal Court serves as the judicial branch of city government and provides a forum for resolving violations of city ordinances, traffic offenses, code-related citations, and other matters within the Court’s jurisdiction. Court staff are available to assist defendants with general procedural questions, payment options, court schedules, and available resources; however, court personnel cannot provide legal advice.
Court Responsibilities
The Municipal Court is responsible for:
- Processing traffic citations and city ordinance violations
- Conducting court hearings and trials
- Managing warrants and warrant compliance programs
- Collecting fines, fees, and court costs
- Processing requests for driving safety courses, deferred disposition, and other court-approved programs
- Maintaining official court records
- Administering oaths and judicial documents as authorized by law
Citation Information
Individuals who receive a citation should carefully review the information provided on the citation and respond by the date indicated. Depending on the nature of the offense and eligibility requirements, options may include:
- Entering a plea
- Paying fines and court costs
- Requesting a court appearance
- Requesting deferred disposition
- Requesting a driving safety course for eligible offenses
- Discussing payment arrangements when authorized by the Court
Failure to respond to a citation or comply with court requirements may result in additional penalties or enforcement actions as allowed by law.
Court Proceedings
The Municipal Court conducts proceedings in accordance with the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and other applicable laws. Individuals appearing before the Court are expected to conduct themselves respectfully and comply with all court procedures and instructions.

Jury Service
Municipal Court jury service is an important civic responsibility and plays a vital role in the administration of justice. Citizens summoned for jury duty are encouraged to review the information provided with their summons and contact the Court with any questions regarding service.
Payments and Records
The Court accepts payments and maintains records related to cases filed within its jurisdiction. Information regarding payment options, court dates, warrants, and case status may be available through the Court office.

Citation Processing Time
Please be aware that citations issued by the Springtown Police Department are not immediately available in the Municipal Court system. It may take approximately 24 to 48 business hours for a citation to be transmitted, processed, and entered into the Court’s records. If you recently received a citation and are unable to locate your case online or through Court staff, please allow sufficient processing time before contacting the Court for assistance.
Juvenile Defendants and Authorization Requirements
Defendants under the age of 17 are required to be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or managing conservator when appearing before the Court or discussing their case with Court staff. In addition, Court staff may only discuss case information with the defendant or an authorized representative. For adult defendants, Court staff cannot discuss case details with family members, friends, employers, or other third parties unless the defendant has provided written authorization permitting the Court to communicate with that individual regarding the case.
Represented Defendants
If you have retained an attorney or otherwise obtained legal representation for your case, all communications with the Court must be made through your attorney. Once the Court has been notified that a defendant is represented by counsel, Court staff are prohibited from discussing the case directly with the defendant and must communicate through the attorney of record. Defendants who are represented by counsel should contact their attorney regarding questions about court dates, filings, payment options, or other case-related matters.
