The City of Springtown Public Works Department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the City’s water, wastewater, streets, and parks infrastructure. The department plays a vital role in protecting public health, supporting economic development, maintaining public facilities, and ensuring residents receive reliable municipal services every day.

Unlike many smaller municipalities that purchase treated water from regional providers or contract utility operations to outside entities, the City of Springtown owns and operates its own water treatment plant, water distribution system, wastewater collection system, and wastewater treatment facilities. This allows the City to maintain direct control over the treatment and delivery of drinking water, the collection and treatment of wastewater, and the long-term planning and investment necessary to meet the needs of a growing community.

Public Works personnel are responsible for producing and delivering clean, safe drinking water to homes and businesses throughout the community while maintaining the infrastructure necessary to ensure reliable service. The department also operates and maintains the City’s sanitary sewer collection and treatment systems, helping protect public health and the environment through the safe collection, conveyance, and treatment of wastewater.

The department works diligently to comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing drinking water quality, wastewater treatment, environmental protection, workplace safety, and public infrastructure. Through routine testing, monitoring, reporting, maintenance, and infrastructure improvements, Public Works staff strive to meet or exceed the standards established by agencies such as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

In addition to utility operations, the Public Works Department maintains city streets, rights-of-way, drainage infrastructure, parks, public facilities, and other municipal assets that contribute to the safety, appearance, and quality of life enjoyed by Springtown residents. Through careful stewardship of public infrastructure and a commitment to excellent customer service, the Public Works Department helps ensure that Springtown remains a safe, healthy, and thriving community for generations to come.
