Shaping Springtown 2040: Resiliency and Comprehensive Planning Project
The City of Springtown is undertaking its most comprehensive long-range planning effort in decades through the Shaping Springtown 2040: Resiliency and Comprehensive Planning Project. This initiative will establish a community-driven vision for Springtown’s future while providing a roadmap for managing growth, improving infrastructure, enhancing economic development opportunities, and strengthening community resiliency over the next 15 years.
The approximately $300,000 project is fully funded through a grant from the Texas General Land Office, allowing the City to complete a comprehensive update of its planning framework without utilizing local tax dollars. The project will result in the adoption of an updated Comprehensive Plan, resiliency recommendations, and supporting updates to the City’s development regulations to ensure future growth aligns with community priorities and infrastructure capacity.
The planning effort examines a broad range of topics that influence Springtown’s future, including community demographics, housing, land use, transportation, water and wastewater infrastructure, storm drainage, parks and open space, economic development, downtown planning, community facilities, and hazard mitigation strategies. By evaluating these interconnected systems together, the City will be better positioned to make informed decisions regarding future development, capital investments, and public services.
Preliminary findings indicate that Springtown is experiencing significant growth and is increasingly becoming an important part of the greater Fort Worth growth corridor. Current population estimates place the city’s population at approximately 5,800 residents, with forecasts suggesting continued growth through 2040. The planning process is focused on ensuring that infrastructure, transportation systems, housing options, parks, public services, and economic opportunities keep pace with that growth while preserving the small-town character that residents value.
Upon completion, Shaping Springtown 2040 will provide the City with a comprehensive policy framework to guide future growth, infrastructure investments, land use decisions, economic development initiatives, and resiliency planning. The resulting plan will serve as Springtown’s primary long-range planning document and establish a clear roadmap for future decision-making by elected officials, city staff, developers, and community stakeholders.

Public Input
A key component of the project is extensive public engagement. The process includes community surveys, stakeholder outreach, advisory committee meetings, and a series of town hall meetings designed to gather resident input on growth priorities, infrastructure needs, community character, and future development strategies. More than 340 residents have already participated in the community survey process, providing valuable insight into local priorities and concerns. To support the project, the City assembled a multidisciplinary consultant team led by Public Management, which is responsible for comprehensive planning, community engagement, demographic analysis, infrastructure assessment, and resiliency planning. The team is supported by Catalyst Commercial, which is providing expertise in economic development, market analysis, commercial development strategy, and downtown planning.
The Comprehensive Advisory Committee will meet June 10, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Annex Building in part to review the survey results. After that meeting, the project’s second town hall will be scheduled.
