Yard Sale Permits

The City of Springtown allows residents to conduct yard sales, garage sales, estate sales, and similar temporary sales events, subject to the requirements established by City ordinance. A permit is required for all yard sales conducted within the city limits.

The permit process helps ensure that sales are conducted in a manner that protects public safety, minimizes traffic concerns, and maintains the appearance of the community.

Permit Requirements

Yard sale permits may be obtained at City Hall during regular business hours and may be purchased up to one week before the scheduled sale date.

Number of Sales Allowed

Each address is limited to two (2) yard sales during any twelve-month period.

The permit is valid only for the address listed on the permit application and may not be transferred to another location.

Yard Sale Signs

To maintain public safety and reduce visual clutter, the City provides official yard sale signs to permit holders.

  • The City will issue up to three (3) yard sale signs with each permit.
  • These are the only yard sale signs permitted within the city limits.
  • All signs must be returned at the conclusion of the sale to receive the refundable sign deposit.

Individuals residing outside the city limits who wish to advertise a yard sale within Springtown must also obtain a yard sale permit and comply with all applicable sign regulations.

Sign Placement Regulations

Yard sale signs may be placed only on private property with the permission of the property owner.

Signs are not permitted in:

  • Public rights-of-way
  • Street medians
  • Utility easements
  • Utility poles
  • Traffic control devices
  • Public property unless specifically authorized

The posting of signs within public rights-of-way is prohibited by City ordinance. Violations may constitute a misdemeanor offense and may result in fines as authorized by law.

Removal of Signs and Materials

All yard sale signs must be removed promptly upon expiration of the permit.

In addition, all unsold items, displays, tables, and related materials must be removed from the sale location and properly stored following the conclusion of the sale.

Failure to remove signs or comply with permit requirements may result in forfeiture of the sign deposit and may affect eligibility for future permits.
