JULY 16, 2024 UPDATE: As of this evening, there is no additional information to provide in relation to this incident other than we have information that indicates the subject is no longer in the Springtown area. We will continue to work the multiple leads we have in this case, but we will only provide additional updates when we are able to provide additional details. There continues to be no active threat to public safety in our area, and we continue to appreciate the public’s patience in reference to this incident.
JULY 15, 2024 8:45 P.M.: The shelter in place is lifted at this time. The suspect has been identified by law enforcement. Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, we will not be releasing their identity at this time. There is no ongoing threat to the public, though residents are advised to report any sighting of anyone matching the suspect’s description to law enforcement immediately by calling 9-1-1. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation this evening throughout this event. We will continue to provide updates, including a formal press release later this evening, as appropriate.
JULY 15, 2024 7:53 P.M.: The subject’s hoodie is described as blue with a Magellan logo down the sleeve. Residents are still asked to shelter in place. At this time, there are no confirmed reports shots fired anywhere in the City as has been speculated on social media. There were also no shots fired in the original incident.
JULY 15, 2024 7:30 P.M. ALL RESIDENTS BETWEEN MAIN STREET AND SPRINGBRANCH AND SOUTH OF 5TH STREET AND NORTH OF HWY. 199 ARE ASKED TO SHELTER IN PLACE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
JULY 15, 2024 7:20 P.M. What is believed to be an armed suspect fled the scene on foot headed north. He is described as a white male, red hair, wearing hoodie, blue jeans and a t-shirt. If seen do not approach. Call 9-1-1 to report his location.
