Temporary Removal of War Memorial Statue
This afternoon, public works crews will be temporarily removing the bronze statue that is located at the War Memorial. This is a protective measure in light of the recent thefts of other bronze items that were located within Springtown Park, the Tabernacle, and the Springtown Cemetery. The decision to remove the statue was made in consultation with the original donor of the statue who agreed the temporary removal of the statue is the best course of action for its protection while the investigation into the other thefts continues. The removal is only temporary, and the statue will be reinstalled at the War Memorial as soon as it is deemed to safe to do so.
As a reminder, there is currently a $1,000 reward being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the thefts of bronze plaques in Springtown Park and the Tabernacle. Anyone with any information should contact the Springtown Police Department at (817) 220-0828, or Parker County Crime Stoppers at 817-599-5555 or 1-800-942-STOP or by visiting the Parker County Crime Stoppers website at www.pccs.tips.
