Traffic Advisory: Temporary Williams-Ward Road Closures Beginning July 20, 2026

  • July 15, 2026

The City of Springtown would like to notify residents of temporary traffic impacts associated with roadway and utility improvements for the new Littleton Springs Elementary School.

What You Need to Know

Beginning: Monday, July 20

Location: Williams-Ward Road between Highway 199 and Springfield Road

Closure Times:

  • July 20 until the start of the Springtown ISD school year (August 12): Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • After the school year begins: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Expected Duration: Approximately three weeks

Detour Route: Through traffic should use Sage Trail to Springfield Road, then back to Williams-Ward Road.

Local Access Will Remain Open

Residents and visitors will continue to have access to:

  • Tractor Supply
  • Springtown Park Rehabilitation Center

The City has also coordinated with the contractor to ensure emergency vehicles will be able to travel through the area at all times.

Why Are These Closures Necessary?

The contractor will be completing roadway and utility improvements that are necessary to serve the new Littleton Springs Elementary School. Portions of this work require excavations exceeding 20 feet in depth, making it unsafe to allow vehicles to travel through the active work zone while crews are working.

City staff has worked closely with the contractor to develop a construction schedule that allows the work to be completed as quickly as possible while minimizing impacts to residents, businesses, and motorists. Work hours will also be shortened once school begins to help reduce traffic impacts during student arrival and dismissal times.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as these important infrastructure improvements are completed. These upgrades will support future growth, improve roadway infrastructure by adding additional turning lanes for the campus, and provide necessary utility service to the school.
