April 15, 2024 — Margaret Mottram Day

Most everyone in our community knows Mrs. Margaret Mottram or has seen her volunteering around Springtown. In honor of her years of volunteerism and dedication to our community, April 15, 2024 has been designated Margaret Mottram Day in the City of Springtown in her honor.

The following proclamation was presented to Mrs. Mottram at the March City Council meeting by Mayor Greg Hood.

WHEREAS, Margaret Mottram is a longtime resident of Springtown who has for nearly 24 years, dedicated her time and energy to displaying a true servant’s heart by demonstrating care and concern for all members of our community who are in need of assistance; and

WHEREAS, Margaret has been a significant force in the battle against food insecurity in our community working tirelessly with non-profit groups such as Neighbor to Neighbors to distribute food to those in our community who have the most need; and

WHEREAS, Margaret has aided in numerous other efforts on a volunteer basis to serve her community, including playing Mrs. Claus during Christmas events; and

WHEREAS, Margaret maintains a well-known presence during the holiday season while soliciting donations for the Salvation Army by “ringing the bell” outside of the local grocery store each year; and

WHEREAS, Margaret, at the age of 97, continues to practice volunteerism in her community in a manner that should be held as a shining example of how neighbors can be of service to one another for the betterment of the community.

THEREFORE, I, Greg Hood, Mayor of the City of Springtown, do hereby proclaim the 15th day of April 2024 as Margaret Mottram Day in honor of her years of committed service and volunteerism to the Springtown community. I urge all citizens to follow Margaret’s example and find ways to be of service to their neighbors.
